The Land of Oja-Ero

Oja-Ero is a vast and enchanting land where sojourners from far and wide come seeking opportunity, prosperity and purpose. A land without borders, it welcomes all through its waterway entrance, where every arrival carries the promise of a new beginning.

Here, life unfolds among its people — in its markets, its homes, its waterways and its traditions. Among them are Mulero, Ododoeye, Laditan, Omonide, Gunrege and Ogidan; each with their own desires, relationships and place within the world of Oja-Ero.

But this land has a mystery of its own. No sojourner leaves with anything except what has been freely bestowed by grateful hearts.

And while the waters bring them in, the only way out lies beyond a lonely forest path.

Our Sojourners

They came to Oja-Ero together, but they did not come seeking the same thing.

As their journeys unfold, Oja-Ero offers each of them what they came looking for — and asks them to decide what it is truly worth.

Two sojourners. Two paths. One land.

Ododoeye chooses another path. Through learning, service and compassion, she finds purpose in the lives of the people around her.

Mulero arrives determined to escape the life of debt and poverty he has known. For him, wealth is more than comfort — it is freedom, status, and the promise of becoming someone different

More Than A Stage Play.

Cowries Do Cry is a thought-provoking theatrical experience that explores the choices that shape a life — our pursuit of purpose, wealth, recognition and the legacy we leave behind.

Rooted in culture, humour and compelling storytelling, the production brings together powerful performances and timeless themes to create a story that is both deeply entertaining and thought-provoking.

It is a journey through ambition, relationships, service and the meaning of success — told through the richness of African storytelling and brought to life on stage.

Come experience the story live. Come laugh, feel, reflect, and discover Oja-Ero for yourself.

Come Into The Story.

This is not a story meant to be experienced from a distance. It is a world built to be felt — through the laughter, the music, the movement, the tension and the moments that stay with you long after the curtain falls.

Step into Oja-Ero. Meet its people. Feel their triumphs, their struggles, their choices and the consequences that follow.

Come for the spectacle. Stay for the story. And somewhere between the laughter and the silence, you may find yourself asking the question that brings it all home: Why am I here?

Set against the backdrop of a society increasingly driven by wealth, influence and recognition, Cowries Do Cry gently challenges conventional ideas of success, reminding us that the true value of life may lie not in what we accumulate, but in the lives we touch.
More than entertainment, it is a theatrical experience that inspires reflection, sparks conversation and leaves a lasting impression.

Why This Story

In a world where success is often measured by possessions, popularity and personal achievement, Cowries Do Cry invites us to pause and consider another measure: is a life of significance defined by what we gain, or by what we give?
